ITALIA 90 HARMONY

London based 4 piece Italia 90 unveil the final single from their anticipated debut album Living Human Treasure, ahead of its release this week. 'Harmony' traverses a lot of ground in just under 6 minutes, described as having a triptych structure, the track begins with a seemingly endless repeated mantra that comes off like a sort of demented nursery rhyme over twitching guitars and bubbling synth lines, before opening out into a spacious post-rock/jazz section and finally barraging into a post-punk conclusion. Here the band describe the motivation behind the structure and how it came together: "Harmony is a song written in three distinct parts. It begins by describing the seemingly endless bad behaviour of a serial wrong'un. We made sure it was repetitive to reflect the patterns of this bad behaviour. The middle section references radical feminist groups that have played a central role in countless revolutionary movements and their commitment to challenging the roots of oppression. We’re joined by Emily ‘The King’ King on saxophone for this part. The song ends with a more straightforward punk outro which we improvised in one take during a writing session. This song is the last track on our album and we liked the idea of ending it with a nod to the kind of music that we made when we first started the band." Living Human Treasure is out 20th of January on Brace Yourself Records, the band will celebrate the release with their biggest headline yet at 100 Club on February the 8th. - Toby Evans-Jesra
